MasterWeld MW-6063 is the first 6000 grade aluminium welding wire designed specifically for welding this matching base metal. This specialist aluminium alloy contains additions of Ti5B1 offering advanced grain refinement resulting in sufficient resistance to hot cracking that has never been achieved before with a matching welding alloy to base metal.
MW-6063 offers many advantages over previously used welding wires that have used such as 4043 and 5183. A very important feature is the possibility of increasing the strength by means of a subsequent heat treatment. This makes it possible to achieve a yield strength of 200-260 MPa, with good elongation values of 6-12% at the same time.
